We all like to talk about hustle, taking action, and getting things done. Our society brags on how much we work and how busy we are.
As someone who has been classified by coworkers as “serious” and personality tests as a “thinker” first, playfulness tends not to be at the top of my priority list. And it should be.
You know all of those great one-liners that come to us while laughing with friends? Or the breakthrough when you’re panting from
running walking? Or the business idea that jumps out at you when you’re painting?
All enabled by letting your brain play and it’s deeply involved with human development, intelligence, pleasure, and understanding.
Need to inject more play in your life? Make sure there’s time in your day for games, art, humor, books, movies, fantasy, flirtation, music, roughhousing, or daydreaming.
Don’t be a fun-sucker and make your play about purpose or accomplishing a goal. Just block the time and let the experience begin.
Happy Saturday, friends!
